We Believe

Our vision as a local church is to be a "worshipping community of witness" for Jesus Christ.  We believe that every follower of Christ is called to engage in worship, community, and  witness. All aspects of Christian activity can be found in these three expressions of the ongoing will of God being done on earth as it is in heaven. You can learn more about our vision through our Composition Class that is available every three months.

Essentials

The Bible is the Word of God.
Jesus Christ is the only Son of God.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a woman.
Jesus Christ was baptized, transfigured, crucified, resurrected, and ascended.
Jesus Christ will return to establish His Kingdom at an appointed time known only by God the Father.
You must be born again. Salvation is a gift from God. He provides the grace needed for us to receive the necessary forgiveness from sin.
Baptism is a sacred practice necessary for all believers.
Relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is made possible through the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross.
Eucharist, instituted by Jesus Christ, provides all believers the spiritual nourishment needed to continue in faith.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for believers now.
Miraculous healing (emotional and physical) is a present reality. Prayer for healing may include the laying on of hands.
There is eternal judgement after death. There are eternal dwelling places, heaven and hell, for both believers and unbelievers.

Our Story

In 1983 Pastors Fred & Phyllis Gorini, along with a few friends, founded the church, The Living Word.  After a year in the New Smyrna Beach area, the church relocated to “The Shoebox,” which was a storefront in a small strip mall on Ridgewood Avenue in Harbor Oaks. Within three years, after filling many of the storefronts at that location, there was no more room to grow.  The Lord provided property at 1818 Taylor Road. The new church facility was finished in the Spring of 1987.  In the early 1990’s The Living Word became part of the Rock Ministerial Family (namely through Pastor David and Patty Dillon) and changed the name to Rock Church of Daytona Beach.  At that time the church property was located in the county with a Daytona Beach address.  When this area was later incorporated into the city of Port Orange, the “Daytona Beach” part of the name was kept.

During the early 1990’s, the church also connected with the missional work of Pastor Marcus and Jennifer Morris. The Lord called them to serve the nation of Bolivia and Rock Church of Daytona Beach has been an active participant in this work to both Bolivia and beyond.

Currently, Rock Church is connected relationally to a number of churches in the United States and oversees including: Rock Church of Franklin, Agua Viva De La Roca, Open Door Suffolk, La Iglesia Roca, The Sup of the Lord, Lamb’s Christian Center, Abundant Life Community Church and others.

Rock Church of Daytona Beach has been active in ministry for the past 33 years in a variety of ways throughout Volusia county supporting many other great organizations. All of this is done with the desire to glorify The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. By obeying the Lord’s call to love and serve locally and globally, Rock Church hopes to continue to share the good news of the Gospel.
